FINE AD DESIGN RECOGNIZED

Holmes Donin Alloul took away four advertising gold awards last week from the graphic design competition held by The Advertising and Design Club of Canada. The Toronto ad shop took top spots in the retail single and campaign divisions of the newspaper category, with work done for Calderone Shoes. The agency also mined gold in the single and campaign divisions of the magazine ad category. Client was Krinos Foods.

The Les Usherwood Award for lifetime achievment went to Toronto illustrator Roger Hill.

Double gold winners were: Bozell Palmer Bonner (client Urban Alliance on Race Relations, category: public service ad, single); Vincor International, TV single [15 sec.]); Chiat/Day Advertising, (Metro Toronto Zoo, transit, single and campaign); BBDO Canada (Molson Breweries, billboard single and campaign).

Other gold winners were: Ammirati & Puris Lintas (Labatt Breweries of Canada, newspaper campaign); Taxi The Advertising Agency (YTV, trade ad, single); Hill Holliday (Lotus, advertising photography); Michael Wurstlin/Troy McClure (National Eating Disorders Information Centre, single poster); Moses Znaimer/Mary Powers (TVTV The Television Revolution, poster campaign); Rage Advertising (Kam Yu Medical Illustration, miscellaneous); Roche Macaulay & Partners (Ikea, TV single [retail]).
