Report: Children's food and beverage advertising compliance

Advertising Standards Canada of Toronto has released its seventh annual compliance report on its Canadian Children's Food & Beverage Advertising Initiative. According to the report, in 2014 the 18 companies participating in the initiative were all in compliance. The participants are Canadian food and beverage advertisers which have committed to either not direct advertising primarily to children under the age of 12, or to limit their advertising to products that more nutritious.

"Participant compliance continues to be excellent, underscoring these leading companies' commitments to the CAI program and to responsible advertising self-regulation," said Linda Nagel, president and CEO of Advertising Standards Canada. "The new nutrition criteria, which shortly will be fully implemented, demonstrate continuing program momentum and progress."

The participating companies include Campbell Canada, Coca-Cola, Danone, Ferrero Canada, General Mills Canada, Hershey Canada, Kellogg Canada, Kraft Canada, Mars Canada, McCain Foods Canada, McDonald's Restaurants of Canada, Mondelēz Canada, Nestlé Canada, Parmalat Canada, PepsiCo Canada, Post Foods Canada, Unilever Canada and Weston Bakeries.
