Canadian Immigrant Magazine of Toronto has begun an annual contest promotion called the “Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards.” This will be the 13th year of the national initiative, which seeks to recognize the contributions of immigrants to the Canadian economy and society. Nominations will be accepted online at <http://www.canadianimmigrant.ca/top25> until June 18. Seventy-five finalists will be selected by a judging panel. Winners in several categories will be determined by public online voting. The awards this year will be sponsored by settlement service agency Costi. Media support is being provided by the Toronto Star, Metro Newspapers, CityTV, Sing Tao and Omni Television.
“At Canadian Immigrant, our goal is to support newcomers succeed in their new home,” said Ramya Ramanathan, editor of the magazine. “One of the ways we do this is by sharing immigrant success stories. Through the Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards, we celebrate immigrants who have achieved great things in their respective fields and, in turn, are serving as inspiring role models.”
