HUDSON'S BAY HIRES EDELMAN

Toronto-based Hudson's Bay Company has hired Edelman Public Relations of Toronto to provide national PR advice. Edelman, which got the account at the end of November, will be responsible for corporate communications counsel and services, including public affairs, issues management, marketing public relations and employee communications. Prior to hiring Edelman, Hudson's Bay handled its PR in-house. Edelman senior consultant Ted Bravakis told Adnews NATIONAL Public Relations of Toronto also pitched. Bravakis said Hudson's Bay was looking for a firm with a national reach and proven capabilities in issues management and public affairs. The new account is just the latest in a series of additions to Edelman's business. Over the last six months, the agency has won accounts for Bell Canada, National Trust, PETsMART, Career Edge, Provigo, Barclays Global Investors, Harley Street Software, InContext Systems, Salix Pharmaceuticals, Queen's Quay Terminal, CUE Network Corporation and CTMC (Canadian Tobacco Manufacturers Council)-The Alliance for Sponsorship Freedom.
