PetSmart sponsors Toronto Maple Leafs

Pet retail chain PetSmart has signed a three-year sponsorship agreement with the Toronto Maple Leafs, making it the exclusive pet retailer of the team. According to the company, this is the first time a professional hockey team has collaborated with a pet retail brand to conduct a marketing campaign. As part of the agreement, PetSmart will sell a collection of Maple Leafs-branded pet apparel. The products will be available at participating PetSmart stores in the Greater Toronto Area, as well as at the Toronto Maple Leafs Store in the Air Canada Centre.

The retailer will also conduct a contest promotion between Oct. 24 and Jan. 6 called the "PetSmart SuperFan Contest." Consumer can enter by submitting a photograph depicting their pet as a Maple Leafs fan via social media or a website at <http://www.mapleleafs.com/petsmart>. Winners will receive two tickets to a Maple Leafs home game. Winning images may also appear on a rinkboard at the arena.

The two organizations will also conduct a number of other joint initiatives, including player appearances at store openings and support for PetSmart's pet adoption program.

"PetSmart customers in Toronto and the GTA love their pets and the Toronto Maple Leafs," said John DeFranco, president of PetSmart Canada. "That's why this collaboration with the Leafs is such an exciting and important venture. Now pet parents can share their love of the game with their furry family members through official licensed pet apparel, a social media contest with chances to win Leafs tickets and more."
