BCE has reached an agreement to sell its minority ownership stake in Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment to Rogers Communications for $4.7 billion. The transaction is expected to close in mid-2025. BCE plans to use the proceeds primarily to reduce its debt. At the same time, BCE subsidiary Bell Media has signed a 20-year agreement with Rogers giving its TSN property content rights for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors. Bell will also continue its sponsorships of the Raptors, the Toronto Argonauts and the Toronto FC.
“We are proud of our time as co-owners of these iconic sports teams, and through this agreement have ensured that fans can count on Bell's continued support of their teams,” said Mirko Bibic, president and CEO of BCE and Bell Canada. “Today's announcement demonstrates that we are focused on creating the financial flexibility to support our ongoing transformation and core growth drivers.”
