Jean de Grandpré Français, former CEO of Bell Canada and founder of BCE, has died at the age of 100. He joined Bell in 1966 as general counsel, holding progressively senior positions at the company until becoming CEO and chair of the board in 1976. He was also pivotal in the creation of Bell Canada Enterprises in 1983. De Grandpré was also a Companion of the Order of Canada, Chancellor Emeritus of McGill University, a lifetime member of the Canadian Bar Association and a member of the Bar of Québec.
