Taco Bell readies Roaming Bell Tower promotion
By Rob Bale
Fast food chain Taco Bell Canada is preparing a promotion for National Taco Day on Oct. 4. The effort makes use of a branded vehicle called the “Roaming Bell Tower” that will travel through Toronto, Scarborough and Hamilton on that day. The vehicle is equipped with speakers that will play the chain’s ringing bell sound effect once per hour. When the bell rings, consumers with smartphones can receive a coupon for a free taco via Apple Airdrop or Android Nearby Share, or by scanning a QR code on the vehicle. Coupons will also be posted to the chain’s social media pages for consumers elsewhere in the country. Taco Bell is a subsidiary of Yum Brands.
“When it comes to National Taco Day, we wanted to create something memorable and engaging for our fans,” said Meera Patel, marketing director at Taco Bell Canada. “By turning our beloved bell into an audio coupon and taking it on the road with our Roaming Bell Tower, we're combining innovation with our signature taco love, giving Canadians a fun and interactive way to celebrate with us.”
