Passage: Ian Greenberg

Ian Greenberg, co-founder of Astral Media, passed away on Jan. 10 at the age of 79. Greenberg co-founded Astral with his brothers in Montreal in 1961 as a photography retailer. He was chief executive officer for 16 years after its transition to media in the 1990s. Astral was acquired by BCE in 2013, at which time Greenberg became a member of the BCE board. Greenberg was a member of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' Hall of Fame and the Canadian Business Hall of Fame, as well as a recipient of the Ted Rogers and Velma Rogers Graham Award for contributions to Canadian broadcasting.
