The federal government launched a $5-million TV campaign this week to showcase the things it does for its citizens, and will increase its air time during the Quebec referendum campaign on sovereignty. The ads play up the government's role in things such as drug monitoring and search-and-rescue. The campaign will also touch on some hot Quebec issues such as the value of having a Canadian passport. Created by BCP of Montreal, the ad blitz will run in French and English across Canada. It is sponsored by Revenue Canada, Health Canada, Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Canadian Heritage, National Defence and Industry Canada. Federal government advertising is placed by its agency of record, Toronto-based Genesis Media.
