Beer Canada conducts radio campaign

Beer Canada, a Toronto-based advocacy organization representing Canadian beer producers, has begun a radio campaign intended to discourage the federal government’s proposed tax increase on beer. The 30-second executions make use of spokescharacters Bob and Doug McKenzie, originally created by comedians Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas. The ads direct consumers to a website at <http://www.hereforbeer.ca>, which will allow them to send a message to their local Member of Parliament.

“We are ecstatic that Bob and Doug have joined our ‘Here For Beer’ community to help keep beer affordable for Canadians,” said CJ Hélie, president of Beer Canada. “Actually, they have been here for beer for more than 40 years. Beer helps bring neighbours, friends, coworkers and communities together, and governments should not push it out of reach of hardworking Canadians.”
