B-OF-M LAUNCHES DIAL-A-POINT MASTERCARD

The Bank of Montreal has teamed up with Bell Canada to launch a card that rings up points for long distance service. The new Bell Mastercard, which is both a credit card and a phone calling card, will be available May 27 in Ontario and Quebec. It will roll out nationally by the end of March next year, as the other eight phone companies in the Stentor alliance adopt the card. Users will gain points by charging purchases on the card, including telephone calls. The launch of the card will be backed by TV commercials and in-branch materials created by BBDO Canada of Toronto, and direct mail done by Cohn & Wells of Toronto. The Royal Bank of Canada launched the Classic Visa card last month, which offers various discounts on purchases, as well as warranty protection. Users can also gain discounts on travel.
