Future Shop begins Nicer List promotion

Electronics retailer Future Shop has begun a holiday season contest promotion called "The Nicer List." The initiative, developed by John St. of Toronto, makes use of a website at <http://www.futureshop.ca/nicerlist> that is intended to track how nice a visitor is. The site will scan the Twitter and Facebook pages of participating consumers looking for "nice comments and actions" in order to determine a "niceness score" for each entrant. Consumers are then encouraged to do "nice things" in order to increase their scores and win prizes. On Dec. 19, the grand prize winner will receive $10,000 to spend at Future Shop.

"At Future Shop, engaging with our customers is a top priority," said James Pelletier, director of marketing at Future Shop. "The Nicer List is a fun tool consumers can interact with, share with their friends and family, and even be a little nicer during the holidays."

The contest is part of a larger holiday campaign called "Season's Gadgets" that also includes television, radio and online advertising, plus interactive digital boards that also have a contest component. Media for the campaign is being handled by Media Experts. Adaptation for the Quebec market was conducted by Brad. Public relations are being managed by Citizen Optimum.
