Tim Hortons conducts Olympic promotion

Tim Hortons has begun a promotion to coincide with the Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games. The effort consists of a collection of trading cards featuring images from the men’s and women’s Canadian Olympic hockey teams. Other cards feature past and present Canadian players from the IIHF World Junior Championships and IIHF Men's and Women's World Championships. Consumers also have a chance to find one of 10 cards autographed by hockey player Sidney Crosby depicting his goal at the Vancouver 2010 games. The collection also includes cards autographed by hockey player Nathan MacKinnon, as well as chances to win Tim Hortons gift cards and menu items. As part of the promotion, participating Tim Hortons locations will host special events on Feb. 21 at which consumers can trade cards and win prizes. The cards are being promoted with a television advertising campaign featuring Crosby, MacKinnon, Brad Marchand, Sarah Nurse and Marie-Philip Poulin.
“As the Olympic games get underway and Team Canada takes to the ice, we're excited to rally behind the team with fans across the country,” said Solange Bernard, senior director of marketing communications at Tim Hortons. “The thrill of opening a pack of Tims Hortons Team Canada Trading Cards captures the pride, passion and anticipation Canadians feel as we celebrate our teams' achievements.”
