AMERICA ONLINE BEEFS UP CANADIAN SERVICE

On-line service provider, America Online, Inc. of Dulles, Virginia introduced an enhanced Canadian version of its service this week. New features of the Canadian service include: 13 areas with Canadian content, localized billing in Canadian dollars, AOL Canada's new member software for Windows, faster and easier Internet access and the expansion of AOLnet, a dial-up data network. The 13 Canadian areas include: Arts and Entertainment, Business and Finance, Chat, Computing, Digital City, Games, International, Internet, Lifestyles and Interests, News, Shopping, Sports and Travel. AOL Canada content providers include CityTV, MuchMusic, Southam New Media, Beavers, Beaty & Co. and Shift Magazine. A national TV campaign, produced in-house by AOL, began running this week. Ogilvy & Mather Direct of Toronto executed the media buy. The service will also be marketed through direct mail.
