Radio-Canada readies Extra service

Radio-Canada is preparing to launch a new French-language entertainment service called Extra. The multi-screen service will be offered through the ICI Tou.tv website. The content will also be available on mobile devices to customers of Rogers Communications and Telus, or to other consumers on a subscription basis. Extra will offer approximately 400 French-language titles, including full television series. The service will launch later this month.
"Radio-Canada is delighted with this collaboration, which consolidates our leadership in a rapidly expanding market," said Marie-Philippe Bouchard, general manager of music and digital services at Radio-Canada. "The agreement will help diversify our revenue and take ICI Tou.tv to a new level. It shows our desire to offer ever-greater choice in an enhanced service that keeps pace with changing TV viewing habits."
