Sponsorship roundup

CanWest MediaWorks has signed agreements with General Motors Canada and Rogers Communications to sponsor its new game show Deal or No Deal Canada. Both sponsors will receive product placement exposure during the five episodes of the program, which will debut on Global Television on Feb. 8. This exposure will take the form of specifically-created in-show content promoting GM’s Pontiac division and Rogers phone service. In addition, Pontiac and Sunquest will sponsor a mobile- and online-based game called Canada’s Case Game that will take place during the episode broadcasts.

The Toronto Board of Trade has formed a multi-year sponsorship agreement with the RBC Financial Group. The bank is the board’s fourth sponsor, along with Accenture, Samsung Canada and the National Post. The company will also become the title sponsor of the RBC Business Owners Program, which is intended to assist small and medium-sized business owners. “All of our members, particularly the thousands who own smaller businesses, will benefit from this new sponsorship,” said the board’s interim president Grant Humes. “RBC’s involvement and support will enable us to continue improving our programs and services for business owners, as well as our activities as a networking hub and advocacy voice for the Toronto business community.”
