Canadian Tire, Petro-Canada begin loyalty promotion

Canadian Tire and Petro-Canada have begun a new loyalty program initiative. Through this national agreement, participants in Canadian Tire’s Triangle Rewards program and Petro-Canada’s Petro Points program can receive loyalty points for purchases at the other chain’s gas stations. Petro-Points can be converted to CT Money which can be redeemed at Canadian Tire, SportChek, Sports Experts, Mark's and Party City stores. Consumers who link their loyalty accounts can collect points from both programs with one card.

The initiative is being promoted with a new advertising campaign called “Fuel New Adventures,” which includes a television commercial highlighting the “emotional value” of a road trip. The campaign was developed by Publicis, with media work by Touche and public relations by Canadian Tire Brand Communications.

“We know that now, more than ever, Canadians are seeking value,” said Cam Thomson, associate vice-president of loyalty at Canadian Tire. “This Triangle Rewards and Petro-Canada partnership is a big milestone in our loyalty offering. As two strong Canadian brands, we are uniting to provide Canadians with more of what they need today, helping them unlock more value on essential purchases. With this partnership, we want Canadians to know that they can earn even more rewards and ultimately fuel new adventures.”
