Canadian Comfort contest resumes

A group of Canadian food production organizations have begun a contest promotion called “Canadian Comfort.” Participating organizations include the Egg Farmers of Canada, Dairy Farmers of Canada, Canadian Hatching Egg Producers, Turkey Farmers of Canada and Chicken Farmers of Canada. The initiative is intended to promote the consumption of local produce. It consists of a collection of summer-themed recipes focusing on home-cooked “feel-good, wholesome comfort food.” The promotion features the participating of chefs and social media influencers Andy Hay and Max L'Affamé, who will post some of their favourite summer recipes using local dairy products, chicken, turkey and eggs. The recipes will be posted online on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest, as well as a campaign website at <http://www.canadiancomforts.ca>. The campaign will run until the end of August. The group conducted a similar promotion last December.

“Through this collaborative effort, we share the high-quality animal welfare and food safety standards in place on our farms,” said Darren Ference, chair of Turkey Farmers of Canada. “We are proud that Canadians can feel good about selecting our commodities and continue to think Canadian-raised for their recipe and meal decisions.”
