McDonald's readies TIFF coffee promotion
By Adnews Staff
McDonald's has begun a promotion tied to its sponsorship of the Toronto International Film Festival. The promotion is in support of the restaurant chain's McCafé coffee brand, which is the official coffee of the festival. The promotion, developed by Cossette, makes use of specially-marked coffee cup sleeves that will be distributed at McDonald's locations in the Toronto area. When such a sleeve is scanned with a smartphone using the mobile application Shazam, the consumer can watch one of five parodies of famous film scenes using coffee beans as characters. The videos have also been posted online at <http://www.mccafecinema.com>. The festival promotion also includes a branded vehicle that will park outside the Princess of Wales theatre during the event to distribute product samples.
