Canadian Tire, Scotiabank sponsor Toronto ice rinks

Canadian Tire and Scotiabank have formed an agreement with the City of Toronto to sponsor 11 outdoor ice rinks in the city. The $270,000 in funding will keep the rinks open to the public until March 16. Scotiabank is participating in the initiative through its "Bright Future" philanthropic program, while Canadian Tire is participating through its "We All Play for Canada" program.
"There is something so Canadian about an outdoor rink, whether you are skating or playing hockey," said John Doig, chief marketing officer at Scotiabank. "We believe it's important to build teamwork, camaraderie and sportsmanship in both hockey and the community, and we think keeping these rinks open a little while longer will help. We are excited to be partnering on this with Canadian Tire and we want to encourage other companies to join us in helping the City of Toronto keep even more rinks open for families to enjoy."
