Fast food chain Wendy's has begun its annual "Kick for a Million" promotion for an eighth year, in association with specialty channel TSN and the Canadian Football League. Until Sept. 23, consumers can enter the contest online at <http://www.tsn.ca/wendys>. Participants will receive extra entries for playing an online game, referring friends to the contest or sharing the contest on social media sites. In-store consumers can also instantly win Wendy's food items and gift cards, as well as prizes from Reebok and The Source, or a 2012 Nissan Sentra 2.0 SR automobile. Four randomly-selected entrants will be invited to participate in one of two quarter-final events that will take place in Toronto and Vancouver. The winners of these events will compete in a semi-final round in Toronto. The winner of that event will attempt to kick a field goal from the 50-yard line during halftime at a televised CFL game in Toronto on Oct. 19. If successful, the contestant will win one million dollars. Other prizes will be awarded for field goals made from shorter distances. "Each year, Wendy's Kick for a Million captures the hearts and minds of football fans across the country," said Stewart Johnston, president of TSN. "The promotion is one of the marquee events annually on the CFL on TSN calendar and we're excited to watch one lucky fan take to the field on Oct. 19 for the opportunity of a lifetime to go home a millionaire, all on national television." The contest is being promoted with two 30-second commercials on TSN, public relations, online advertising, in-store materials and social media activities.
