Ontario Energy Board breaks awareness campaign
By Adnews Staff
The Toronto-based Ontario Energy Board yesterday began a new multi-media awareness campaign that offers advice to consumers who find an energy company sales representative at their door. The creative encourages consumers to ask to see identification in such cases, to not share personal information before signing a contract and to read a contract carefully. The ads also point out that the Ontario Energy Board does not make door-to-door sales calls. The campaign consists of radio and online advertising, as well as a brochure and a video in 13 languages. The Ontario Energy Board regulates the province's electricity and natural gas sectors and has the responsibility to ensure electricity retailers and gas marketers follow fair business practices.
