Clothing company Diesel has signed on as the sponsor of the Toronto International Film Festival’s Discovery Programme. This program will consist of 19 international feature films from new filmmakers. The director of one film, to be selected by the members of the press, will receive the Diesel Discovery Award and a prize of $10,000. In addition, Diesel will provide clothing for the festival’s executive staff as part of the sponsorship agreement. “It has been one of our very important mandates to support young talent in such areas as music with Diesel New Music, as well as in art and fashion design, so the Discovery Programme is a perfect extension of our philosophy,” said Joey Adler, president of Diesel. The sponsorship was brokered by Endeavour of Toronto, agency of record for both parties. The Toronto International Film Festival will run from Sept. 7 to 16.
