CBC gains broadcast rights to two more Olympic Games

CBC/Radio-Canada has secured the Canadian broadcast rights to the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games and the 2024 Olympic Games from the International Olympic Committee. CBC will now be the official broadcaster of the next five Olympic Games, including Rio 2016, Pyeongchang 2018 and Tokyo 2020. CBC will also be a broadcast partner until at least 2023 for the IOC's new international digital Olympic Channel. As lead broadcaster, CBC will work with Olympic broadcasts Bell Media and Rogers Media.

"CBC/Radio-Canada's best-in-class coverage, including expansive digital offerings, helped change the way Canadians engage with the Olympics," said Hubert Lacroix, president and CEO of CBC/Radio-Canada. "This is clear recognition of the exceptional coverage CBC/Radio-Canada provided for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, the most watched Olympics in history."
