FRENCH AD AGENCY TAKES BITE OF BCP

Groupe Publicis of Paris, France has bought a 70% stake in BCP Group Inc. of Montreal. The Montreal agency will be renamed Publicis*BCP. The move gives Groupe Publicis a North American partner, and gives BCP a worldwide partner. BCP will also spin off a separate, 100% Canadian-owned shop to be called BCP Canada. in order to keep the agency's federal assignments, such as Tourism Canada and Canada Post. The same shareholders who own 30% of Publicis*BCP, own BCP Canada. Groupe Publicis has about $5 billion a year in billings and has international clients such as Nestlé SA of Switzerland and L'Oreal SA of France. BCP clients include Chrysler Canada, Molson Breweries and Procter & Gamble.
