CANON RELEASES TWO NEW CAMCORDERS
By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Canon Inc. launched two new camcorders to the North American market late last month called the ES3000 Hi8 and the ES6000 Hi8. The former model comes with an auto editing function built into the camera which eliminates the need for a separate video editor. Other features include optical image stabilization technology, which delivers steady images at high magnification, and a zoom lens that has a telephoto range of up to 40X. The ES6000 model features eye control, which allows users to control focus, recording and other options simply by moving the eye. While Canadian advertising plans for the camcorders have not been decided upon, a print campaign later this fall is a possibility. Lackey Business Communications Ltd. of Mississauga, Ont. handles Canon's advertising in Canada. Canon Canada has also introduced two new Bubble Jet printers called the BJC-240 and the BJC-4550. Both machines use photo cartridges in order to produce print quality comparable to photographs. They also come equipped with Canon Creative 2.0 software, a two-disc CD-ROM set that includes Windows-compatible programs for greeting card creation, stationary, stickers, cards and labels, and one offering Norman Rockwell images. The printers were first released in the U.S. in mid-August and have been available in Canada since the end of last month. A national ad campaign is set to start later this month using newspaper inserts and transit shelter ads. Lackey created the campaign.
