MORE ANTI-VIOLENCE ADS

Seven federal government departments have brought out new advertising in their continued effort to stamp out violence. The departments launched a campaign last week called "Violence - You Can Make A Difference." It uses radio and TV ads that give safety tips to help women and children avoid abuse. They also focus on media literacy. The ads, which were created by Cossette Communication-Marketing's Montreal and Vancouver offices, began last week. Cossette has also produced safety tip sheets available at private radio and TV stations and community centres. The radio and TV stations are promoting the sheets on-air. The campaign builds on the Speak Out Against Violence TV and radio campaign that was launched in March, 1994 and ended last month. It told Canadians that they are all affected by violence and are all part of the solution. The departments involved in the campaign are Canadian Heritage, Health Canada, Justice Canada, Status of Women Canada, Human Resources Development Canada, National Defence and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
