BILL SAUL SAYING ADIEU
By Adnews Staff
Bill Saul is retiring on Dec. 31 from the job he has held since the beginning of 1990: group vice-chairman and chief operating officer of the DDB Needham Group in Toronto. He agreed to stay on for six years when Carder Gray Advertising merged with DDB, and his term will be up at the end of the year. Saul worked in product management at Canadian General Electric before starting his agency career at Ogilvy & Mather in 1967. He stayed with O&M until the end of 1977, except for a two-year break when he went to work on a Canadian Aid contract in Tanzania. His next agency was Hayhurst Advertising, which eventually became Saatchi & Saatchi. He was managing director of that agency when he left to become partner and executive vice-president of Carder Gray. When he leaves the agency game Saul will continue to do volunteer work with the Alzheimer Society of Canada, and will have more time to devote to Blue Jays games.
