Husqvarna signs MLS sponsorship

Mississauga-based outdoor power products company Husqvarna has signed a sponsorship agreement with three Canadian Major League Soccer teams: the Toronto FC, Montreal Impact and Vancouver Whitecaps FC. The brand will be the official and exclusive lawn sponsor for the 2016 season.

The sponsorship includes half-time promotions at some games intended to be interactive experiences for attendees. Participants will take part in a soccer match using leaf blowers to propel the ball. Winners will receive Husqvarna products. The sponsorship also includes a Facebook contest. Consumers can enter by submitting lawn maintenance photographs to win tickets to a game involving one of the three teams.

In addition, the Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Husqvarna will conduct a campaign called "Trees for Goals," during which the company will commit to the planting of 100 trees in British Columbia for each goal the team scores during its 2016 home games.

"With the launch of our new battery series, we're excited to offer fans a new and fun way to experience the tools first hand."
