Husqvarna releases virtual reality chainsaw game

Outdoor power products company Husqvarna Group has released a promotional virtual reality game called Husqvarna Limberjack. The free game, which is being distributed through online game store Steam, encourages players to use a Husqvarna 359 chainsaw to remove branches from a log as quickly as possible. At the end of each month, Husqvarna will announce the best player in the world for the month. In August 2017, the twelve best players of the year will be invited to a world championships final event in Sweden. According to the company, Husqvarna hopes to use the game to examine how new technology can play a role in educating users on proper product use as well as to generate interest in logging.
"VR limbing combines two extremes, one of the oldest professions in the world together with the newest technology available," said competitive logger Lars Strandell. "Husqvarna Limberjack is fun and educational and, just like limbing in the real world, technique, precision and speed is crucial for productivity and a good result."
