Windsor Star promotes new design

Postmedia of Toronto has redesigned the Windsor Star as part of its ongoing initiative to redesign its newspaper properties. The new design consists of print, web, tablet and smartphone editions that are intended to provide different kinds of information to various kinds of consumers. The smartphone application offers short news items that are frequently updated and optimized for sharing via social media. The website also specializes in frequent updates with longer stories. The new digital elements also offer more efficient navigation, more photographs and videos and a cleaner visual style. The print edition focuses on news analysis for local audiences, while the tablet application focuses on multimedia presentations. Visually, the redesign includes a new logo that represents the Detroit River in shades of blue.

"As a vital part of the community, our mission is to connect and engage with our readers on all platforms by producing products that are at the forefront of the industry and that our readers have told us they want," said Marty Beneteau, editor of the Windsor Star. "The new dramatic redesign offers a cleaner, more engaging user experience and richer digital platforms to showcase our award-winning journalism and premium advertising."

The newspaper has begun a three-month marketing campaign called "At your fingertips" to promote the redesign. Similar to recent campaigns from other Postmedia properties, its focuses on the paper's news, sports, politics, business and arts coverage. It was developed by Sid Lee.
