Bicycle theft awareness campaign begins in Montreal

A group of organizations has begun a campaign in Montreal to raise awareness of the risk of bicycle theft in the city. The campaign is a joint effort by the Insurance Bureau of Canada, the City of Montreal, the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal, Vélo-Québec and the Société de transport de Montréal. It uses the tagline, "Lock it. It's important," and makes use of 3,000 posters near bicycle racks, transit stations, schools, parks and libraries. The posters display a quick response code that directs viewers to additional information at <http://www.infoinsurance.ca>. In future phases of the campaign, posters will also be placed in restaurants, cafes, movie theatres, librairies, bicycle stores and police stations in Montreal. In addition, a wallet-size information card will be distributed at cycling events in the city.
