Insurance Bureau of Canada conducts Great BC Shakeout
The Insurance Bureau of Canada and the BC Earthquake Alliance conducted a promotion on Oct. 17 called the “Great BC Shakeout” to raise awareness of earthquake preparedness. The initiative encouraged consumer to participate in an earthquake drill and to prepare an emergency plan and kit. The promotion, which has been conducted annually since 2011, also included a website at <http://www.shakeoutbc.ca> and social media content.
“Everyone should be prepared to take immediate action once the shaking starts,” said Aaron Sutherland, Pacific vice-president of the Insurance Bureau of Canada. “By working together, we can make British Columbians safer and better prepared to cope when disaster strikes.”
