The Toronto Star has launched a new mobile version of its website aimed at users of the Apple IPhone. The site, located at <http://www.thestar.com/iphone>, offers content from the newspaper formatted to suit the device and make use of its multimedia capabilities. "Thestar.com IPhone mobile site is another example of how the Toronto Star continues to innovate online," said Judy Sims, digital vice-president of the Star Media Group.
Job search website Workopolis.com has formed an agreement to provide job listings to the website of commuter newspaper publisher Metro Canada. National and regional listings will appear on the site <http://www.metronews.ca>. In addition, businesses that place employment ads in Metro will also be able to get their listing on Workopolis at a discounted rate. "This partnership combines the reach of the leading newspaper brand among adults 18-49 and the leading online job site in Canada," said Metro Toronto publisher Bill McDonald. "And it further extends our focus on improving the experience for all of our stakeholders, making Metro the print and online destination for young Canadians." Metro publishes Canadian editions in Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver with a combined circulation of approximately 815,000. Workopolis is owned by Torstar. The Metro papers are published by Torstar and Metro International.
