SEGA LOWERS SATURN PRICE

The Japanese company Sega reduced North American prices last week for its 32-bit Sega Saturn game system. In Canada $90 has been chopped off, bringing the price tag down to $339. In the U.S. the price has been dropped $50(US), to $249(US). The new pricing was made possible by strong worldwide hardware and software sales and better hardware production capabilities, Sega says in a release. Sega says it has sold over 3.5 million Saturn systems worldwide, 500,000 of them in North America. California-based Sony says it has sold one million of its PlayStation units worldwide since launching the 32-bit system last September. Nintendo of Canada says most consumers stuck with 16-bit video game systems last year. Ninety per cent of its total dollar sales in 1995 were for its 16-bit and 8-bit games.
