MOLSON DRIVES AWAY FROM THE RACE TRACK

Molson O'Keefe Brewery of Montreal is taking a step back from auto racing. Starting next year, the company will no longer be operating or sponsoring the Grand Prix Molson du Canada. The brewery wants to refocus on its beer making operations, president André Tranchemontagne says in a release. Molson currently operates and sponsors the event under a licence from its owner, FOCA, an automobile builders' group. FOCA will decide at the end of the 1996 season whether it will operate the event on its own or look for another sponsor, Grand Prix press officer Richard Prieur told Adnews yesterday.
