TWO ATHLETIC SHOE COMPANIES LOSE AD BOSSES

U.S.-based Nike Inc. fired its global advertising director Joe McCarthy last week because of "differences in management philosophy." Nike is searching for a replacement. In the interim his responsibilities will be handled by three regional ad directors, all reporting to marketing vice-president Liz Dolan. McCarthy held the position for two years. David Ropes, the head of global advertising at U.S.-based Reebok International, also left his job last week. He decided to leave because the company was dividing his responsibilities.
