CADENCE DENTSU WANTS A DRIVER'S SEAT

Look out Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising. According to a story in The Globe & Mail, Denstu Cadence Advertising is going after the Toyota Canada ad account. The Globe cited unnamed "industry sources" in its story. Ad agency executive Ralph Luciw will not make a direct comment on Toyota but he does allow that the young agency is going after a car account. However, it may take a little time. "We're just building an agency," Luciw told Adnews yesterday. Luciw came to Dentsu Cadence in mid-August as director of account services. He left Subaru Canada where he had taken on the job of advertising manager just this past January. Another car specialist at Dentsu Cadence is Michael Paul, former creative director at SMW Advertising which does the advertising for Toyota's luxury car, the Lexus. In march this year, Dentsu Inc. of Tokyo and Cadence Communications of Montreal joined up to form Dentsu Cadence, headquartered in Toronto with a Montreal office. In various parts of the world Dentsu is a partner with Young & Rubicam which has the Ford Motor Co. of Canada account. In Japan, Dentsu works for Toyota Motor Corp. It also has Honda Motor Co., Mazda Motor Corp. and Subaru as clients.
