By Adnews Staff
Bell Canada and The Toronto Blue Jays stepped up to the plate yesterday for Camp Oochigeas as they invited more than 30 children to Skydome for a day of baseball. Along with tours of the dome and CN Tower, the children were be able to participate in a baseball clinic with two Blue Jays. Bell donated $1000 to the camp for every Blue Jays hit during the game. Camp Oochigeas is a residential camp for children with cancer. As part of the promotion, Bell also gave out special HELLO! cards to the first 25,000 fans into the stadium. They can be used to receive six free minutes of long distance telephone service anywhere in Ontario. As well, for every HELLO! card purchased at Bell Phonecentre stores in Ontario between July 27 and August 10, Bell will donate $1 to the camp. Print ads in BBS Playbook, The Toronto Sun and The Toronto Star were used to promote the event as well as P.O.P. materials in stores and a commercial on the Jumbotron. Ammirati & Puris Ltd. of Toronto handled the newspaper ads, while Toronto-based Leo Burnett Company did the Playbook ads and the point of purchase materials. The ads began running in late July. Funds received by the camp will be used to upgrade its communication technology.
