CAF DENOUNCES AD

The Canadian Advertising Foundation's standards council says an ad by Swiss-based watch company Swatch SA is in poor taste and violates its rules of public decency. The ad shows a headless woman baring her breasts and features the headline "Swatch Test No. 73 Shock Resistance." The headless woman is not wearing a watch, but two Swatch models are flagged at the bottom of the ad. The ad appears on billboards in Toronto and some publications in Montreal and Vancouver. Officials at Swatch Canada were unavailable to comment on what the company was going to do with the ad. Its Canadian agency, MacPhee Jesson of Toronto, has suggested covering up the breasts.
