7UP ACCOUNT CHANGES HANDS

U.S.-based Cadbury Schweppes has hired Young & Rubicam of New York to handle advertising for its 7Up line of soft drinks. The account had been with Leo Burnett Company of Chicago for the past ten years, until it resigned in May when it got the Fruitopia business from Coca-Cola Company. In Canada, 7Up is marketed by Pepsi-Cola Canada of Mississauga, Ont., and its advertising is done by J. Walter Thompson of Toronto. Y&R won the business in a competition with two other Cadbury agencies: Foote, Cone & Belding's Chicago office and Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer Euro RSCG of New York. Cadbury bought 7Up from Dr. Pepper/Seven-Up Companies in January.
