Air Canada seeks injunction against Aimia, Kognitiv deal

Air Canada and its loyalty program Aeroplan have filed an application for injunctive relief with the Quebec Superior Court. The application relates to the proposed merger of the Loyalty Solutions division of Aimia with Kognitiv Corporation of Waterloo, ON. The $35 million deal was announced in April. According to Air Canada, the transaction would result in breaches of certain non-competition and confidentiality provisions entered into by Aimia in connection with the sale of Aeroplan in 2018. In a statement, Aimia denied the allegations and reaffirmed its plan to close the transaction during the week of June 8.
