CBC/Radio-Canada begins Olympic digital initiatives

CBC/Radio-Canada has launched new websites dedicated to coverage of the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The sites are located at <http://www.cbc.ca/olympics> and <http://ici.radio-canada.ca/jeuxolympiques>. During the games, they will offer broadcast schedules, live-streaming video feeds, event results, news and additional related content. The broadcaster has also launched a site at <http://www.cbc.ca/kidscbcolympics> that will specialize in sports-themed activities, videos, games and other content aimed at children. The sites use a responsive design that adapts to computer, smartphone and tablet displays.

In related news, CBC/Radio-Canada has signed a deal with Twitter Canada to make use of the social media site's Twitter Amplify service during its Olympics coverage. According to the company, this will be the first time the Amplify service will be used to cover the Olympics in Canada. It will consist of video-based Twitter messages related to the games.
