BELL INTRODUCES FAX SERVICE

Bell Canada launched a fax service last week that will save incoming fax messages when a fax line is busy or unavailable. Called Fax Overflow, the service is currently available in Toronto and Montreal. It will roll out to the rest of Ontario and Quebec throughout 1997. Fax Overflow works using Bell's Call Forwarding service, which customers must have set up for each of their fax lines. The service temporarily stores incoming fax messages if a customer's receiving fax machine is either busy or unavailable due to being out of paper, turned off or out of order. The messages will automatically be delivered as soon as the line or fax machine becomes available. It is capable of storing up to 60 faxes at a time. Currently, the service is being promoted by Bell's sales representatives. Advertising will begin next year. It will be created by Toronto-based BBDO Canada.
