Subway conducts national contest promotion

Sandwich chain Subway has begun a contest promotion called "Hungry for Hot, Crazy for Cool." According to the company, this is the first time Subway has conducted a national winter cup promotion that allows winners to choose prizes based on their preferences for hot or cold sandwiches. Consumers who buy an eligible beverage during the contest will receive a cup with a peel-off label concealing an identification number. Participants can check the number online at <http://www.subway.com> to see if it's a winner. Winners can choose between various hot- and cold-themed prizes. The grand prizes are a trip to the Bahamas or a trip to Switzerland, along with a $1,500 MasterCard gift card. The contest also includes weekly and daily prizes.

"We wanted to host a fun contest that allows fans to customize their prizes the same way they customize their sandwiches," said Kathleen Bell, director of national marketing at Subway Restaurants Canada. "We wanted the prizes to reflect the hot and cold theme of the contest. We know that cold Canadian winters can be tough on our customers. With these hot and cold prize options, lucky winners can choose items that best compliment how they prefer to perk up the winter, like a hot tropical destination or  cold ski chalet getaway."

The contest will run until Feb. 1, 2015. It will be supported with television advertising from KBS+ and digital media from MMB. Media buying is being handled by Carat. Public relations are being conducted by Veritas Communications.
