Sponsorship roundup

MasterCard Canada has signed a naming rights agreement with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment for a new hockey facility in Toronto that will open next month. The venue, which will be called the MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence, will be the practice location for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Marlies. It will also be a community rink and the home ice of the Lakeshore Lions hockey team. The centre is located on the site of the former Lakeshore Lions Arena and will be operated by the club. "MasterCard Canada's ongoing involvement with hockey across the country inspired us to lend our support to this state-of-the-art facility that will bring together everyone who is passionate about hockey, from grassroots players to the sport's elite, and all of their supporters," said Kevin Stanton, president of MasterCard Canada. "Hockey has created hundreds of priceless memories for Canadians involved in the sport, either as a player or as a fan. The MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence will play a key role in creating more of these memories in the years ahead."
