MasterCard forms loyalty program agreement with One

MasterCard Canada has entered into an exclusive agreement with Toronto-based One Inc. to make use of the company's loyalty program technology in its credit cards. According to the company, the system currently under development will allow consumers to link their loyalty cards to their MasterCard credit cards in order to automatically receive loyalty points when they complete a transaction. The system, called "Universal Recognition," is intended to eliminate the need for consumers to carry separate loyalty cards.
"Canadians love their rewards and loyalty points and partnering with an innovative technology company enhances our ability to provide cardholders with new solutions in the future," said Wendy Braithwaite, senior vice-president of market development at MasterCard Canada. "We're looking at the next evolution of the shopping experience, and Universal Recognition will support a service that will change the way cardholders experience payments and loyalty."
