CROWNE PLAZA BEDS DOWN WITH COHN & WOLFE

Cohn & Wolfe launched a Canadian PR campaign for Crowne Plaza hotels this week to promote that chain's search for a vice-president of protocol. The campaign also uses a national print ad created by Young & Rubicam of Toronto and Cohn & Wolfe. The vice-president of protocol will provide guidance to ensure all departments are upholding the tradition of high quality service provided by Crowne Plaza. Cohn & Wolfe was given the Crowne Plaza business last month without a review. The agency had been talking to the hotel chain for a number of months. Cohn & Wolfe got the business because of its travel and tourism experience, Canadian marketing director Patrick Field says in a release. The incumbent on the business was Continental Communications of Toronto. Crowne Plaza is a subsidiary of U.S.-based Holiday Inn Worldwide. Crown Plaza has 130 hotels worldwide. In Canada, Crowne Plaza has hotels in Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg and Edmonton.
