SWIMMER DOING TOUR OF SEARS STORES
By Adnews Staff
Sears Canada is launching a six-week, 12-city tour today to publicize its sponsorship of Canadian athletic teams as the 1996 summer Olympics approach. Sears Travel, Adidas, Metlife, Timex Canada and Speedo are all co-sponsors of the tour. Mark Tewksbury, 100 metre backstroke gold medallist at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, will hit the road for Eaton's. He will be joined by other athletes when he comes to their home towns, people such as Angela Chalmers, Shannon Shakespeare, Curtis Myden, Catriona Le May Doan, Marnie McBean and Anne Montminy. Print and radio advertising, created in-house, are supporting the tour. Sears is also running a sweepstake with the top prize being a trip for four to Atlanta hosted by Tewksbury. The tour runs until mid-June.
